Before & After: The Orchid Wix Studio Website Redesign
PROJECT REVEAL VIDEO: Add the finished Rocío & Angel website video here before publishing.
A website redesign is not just about making a site look better. It is about creating clarity, improving the user journey, and building a digital platform that can grow with the people behind it.
For authors Rocío Aquino and Angel Orengo, the goal was to transform an information-heavy website into a modern, bilingual experience that feels intentional, welcoming, and easy to explore.
Before: A Website That Had Outgrown Its Structure
The previous Orchid website had grown over time into a large repository of valuable content around the book, podcast, events, interviews, Evolution of the Self, inspiring books, downloads, blog content, purchase links, and more. The content itself was meaningful, but the experience had become difficult to scan and navigate.
From a UX perspective, the biggest issue was not a lack of information. It was that too many important things were presented at the same level. Visitors had to decide between many menu items before they had a clear understanding of the brand journey or the most important next step.
What Was Creating Friction
The old experience had several layers of visual and structural competition: a long horizontal menu, language instructions, social icons, purchase-platform logos, large blocks of copy, book information, and multiple pathways all appearing close together.
The book experience is a good example. Visitors were presented with a large amount of copy immediately, while the primary actions and supporting content had to compete for attention. The information was valuable, but the hierarchy did not guide the eye clearly enough.
The Redesign Strategy
I reorganized the site around a much simpler content architecture: Home, The Book, Podcast, Events, Resources, About, and Contact. Each section now has a defined role in the visitor journey.
Instead of continuing to add more static pages, repeatable content was moved into scalable systems. Interviews, downloads, inspiring reads, and future updates can now live inside a structured Resources area rather than expanding the navigation every time new content is added.
The homepage was also rethought to create a clearer emotional and visual entry point. The goal was less competing information, stronger calls to action, cleaner storytelling, and a better path toward the book, podcast, events, and resources.
How We Improved the User Experience
The redesign focused on hierarchy, simplicity, and flow. Navigation was reduced, related content was grouped together, calls to action became easier to identify, and the visual system was made more consistent across the site.
The bilingual English and Spanish structure was also integrated more intentionally so visitors can move through the site without the language experience feeling like a separate layer or afterthought.
On mobile and tablet, the layout was rebuilt to respond properly to different screen sizes, with spacing, typography, imagery, and content order adjusted for readability and usability.
Built in Wix Studio
The new website was rebuilt in Wix Studio with responsive behavior across desktop, tablet, and mobile. The project also included Wix Events, podcast and YouTube integration, SEO foundations, image optimization, accessibility best practices, and AI-era content organization designed to make the site easier for both people and modern search systems to understand.
After: A Clearer Digital Home
The finished website is cleaner, more visual, and much easier to navigate while still preserving the personality and meaning behind The Orchid. The book, podcast, events, resources, and story now feel connected as one brand ecosystem rather than separate areas competing for attention.

The new structure also gives Rocío and Angel a platform that can continue evolving with their work, from the book and podcast to future events, resources, courses, media, and community experiences.
Why This Kind of Redesign Matters
One of the most important parts of a redesign happens behind the visuals. A beautiful website can still feel confusing if the content architecture is not clear. By simplifying navigation, organizing repeatable content into the right systems, and creating a stronger hierarchy, a website becomes easier to use, easier to manage, and easier to grow.
I loved working on this transformation and seeing the site move from a complex content archive into a cohesive digital home for The Orchid.
