CASE STUDY | WIX STUDIO | NONPROFIT | FOUNDATION | DONATIONS

Some projects stand out because of the design. Others stand out because the design, mission and client trust all come together. The Barry Bonds Family Foundation website became one of those projects for GigiMagine.

The Starting Point

The Barry Bonds Family Foundation needed a dedicated website that could clearly communicate its mission, present its work and community impact, support donations, share news and media, and remain flexible for future growth.

From the beginning, the project was planned as a complete turnkey website rather than a simple landing page. The proposed structure included a homepage, About the Foundation, Events, Blog, Gallery, Donation and Contact experiences, all organized around a clear nonprofit user journey.

Why Wix Studio Was the Right Foundation

The client and I discussed the difference between the classic Wix editor and Wix Studio early in the process. Because the foundation needed stronger responsive control, modern design flexibility and room to grow, Wix Studio became the clear choice.

The final site was built in Wix Studio and today includes Wix Blog, Wix Donations and Wix Forms as part of the live website infrastructure. The goal was not simply to make the site look polished, but to give the foundation a professional platform it could continue using after handoff.

Designing Around Mission and Credibility

The visual direction needed to feel established, modern and respectful of the Barry Bonds name while keeping the foundation's community work at the center of the experience. I designed the website from scratch around clear content hierarchy, strong imagery, simple navigation and space for media, stories and future updates.

A nonprofit website has to answer several questions quickly: What does the organization do? Why does it matter? What impact has it made? How can someone participate or support it? Every design decision was made to help visitors move through those questions naturally.

Donation Experience and Practical Setup

Donation functionality was an important part of the project from the beginning. During the final stages, I worked with the foundation's team on the donation pathway and PayPal configuration so the website could support real contributions, not simply display a Donate button with no operational follow-through.

I also handled the site transfer and post-launch support so the foundation team could take ownership without losing continuity.

SEO and Post-Launch Visibility

After launch, Shikari noticed that the new website was not yet appearing in Google as clearly as expected. I reviewed the setup and guided the team through connecting the site for Google indexing and search visibility.

That post-launch step mattered because a new website is not finished simply because it is published. Search visibility, ownership, donation testing and handoff are all part of making a website usable in the real world.

What the Client Said

After the site launched, Shikari thanked me for the attention to detail and wrote that the website "truly captured what we were looking for." She later described it simply as a "beautiful website."

For me, that is the most important kind of feedback. The job was not to impose a style on the foundation. It was to understand what the team was trying to communicate and translate that into a digital experience that felt right to them.

The Website Became Its Own Referral Source

One of the strongest outcomes came months later from a completely different organization. An environmental nonprofit contacted GigiMagine about a redesign and wrote that they had been inspired by the Barry Bonds Family Foundation website and wanted something equally dynamic and informative.

That is meaningful because it shows the website doing something beyond serving its original organization. It became a visible example of what a modern nonprofit website can look like, and it directly generated interest in another nonprofit project.

The Result

The Barry Bonds Family Foundation now has a dedicated, published Wix Studio website with its own custom domain, blog, donation tools, forms and a structure designed for continued storytelling and growth.

For GigiMagine, it also became one of the clearest examples of the kind of work I want to keep doing: thoughtful design, clean UX, strong mission communication and a website that feels credible enough to represent the organization behind it.

The Takeaway

A strong nonprofit website should do more than explain a mission. It should create trust, make impact understandable, give supporters a clear next step and provide the organization with a system it can continue to grow.

If your nonprofit, foundation or mission-driven organization has outgrown its current website, the right redesign can turn scattered information into a clear digital story that supports both visibility and action.
